Hodnocení předmětu je založeno na docházce a aktivní účasti na seminářích, krátké prezentaci během výuky, online aktivitách v systému Moodle, závěrečném písemném testu a ústní zkoušce.

Každý student připraví krátkou prezentaci shrnující obsah předchozího semináře a otevírající prostor pro další diskusi; prezentace může být v případě většího počtu studentů týmová a tvoří až 10 % výsledného hodnocení.

Závěrečný písemný test ověřuje znalost probírané látky a schopnost její praktické aplikace. Ústní zkouška prověřuje porozumění tématům kurzu a schopnost diskutovat a aplikovat získané znalosti v rozhovoru s vyučujícím.

Assessment includes attendance, active participation, short in-class presentation, interactive Moodle activities, final written test, and final oral exam.

Course Attendance

Students are expected to attend the classes and actively participate in assigned in-class activities.

Each student is entitled to deliver one short in-class presentation at the beginning of the seminar. If the number of students signed up for the seminar exceeds the number of seminar sessions, the presentation will be assigned as a team presentation. The aim of the presentation is to summarise the discussion of the previous class and open space of clarifying and further attending to any unfinished business; this presentation will be assigned at the end of every session. Students who give this presentation will earn up to 10 % of their final grade.

Final Written Test

The aim of the test is to assess students’ knowledge the subject matter covered during the course (as presented in course handouts) as well as their ability to practically apply this knowledge in assigned questions, tasks, and activities.

Podmínkou připuštění ke zkoušce je pravidelná docházka, aktivní účast na seminářích a splnění průběžných studijních povinností. Součástí závěrečného hodnocení jsou průběžné testy. Zkouška se skládá z písemné a ústní části. Písemná část ověřuje znalost základních pojmů, metod a témat probíraných v průběhu kurzu a schopnost jejich aplikace při řešení zadaných úloh. Po úspěšném absolvování písemné části následuje ústní zkouška, která zahrnuje diskusi nad vybranými tématy kurzu a krátkou prezentaci zaměřenou na praktickou aplikaci získaných znalostí. Od studentů se očekává schopnost analyzovat strukturu argumentů, rozpoznat základní typy argumentace, identifikovat logické klamy a využívat základní principy kritického myšlení při interpretaci a hodnocení argumentů. Součástí hodnocení je také schopnost srozumitelně formulovat a obhajovat vlastní stanovisko.

Regular attendance, active participation in seminars, and fulfillment of ongoing study requirements are prerequisites for admission to the exam. Ongoing tests are part of the final assessment. The exam consists of a written and an oral part. The written part tests knowledge of the basic concepts, methods, and topics covered during the course and the ability to apply them in solving assigned tasks. Successful completion of the written part is followed by an oral exam, which includes a discussion of selected topics from the course and a short presentation focused on the practical application of the knowledge acquired. Students are expected to be able to analyze the structure of arguments, recognize basic types of argumentation, identify logical fallacies, and use the basic principles of critical thinking in interpreting and evaluating arguments. The assessment also includes the ability to clearly formulate and defend one's own position.

Vysvětlit základní principy kritického myšlení a jejich význam pro akademickou, profesní a každodenní komunikaci.

Identifikovat a analyzovat strukturu argumentu (premisy, závěr, implicitní a explicitní argumenty) a vytvářet argumentové mapy.

Rozlišovat základní typy argumentů, zejména deduktivní, induktivní a argumenty z analogie.

Rozpoznat běžné logické klamy, rétorické strategie a manipulační techniky v různých typech diskurzu.

Formulovat vlastní logicky strukturované argumenty, protiargumenty a způsoby jejich vyvracení.

Aplikovat principy kritického myšlení při analýze případových studií z oblasti businessu, etiky a společenských témat a prezentovat své argumenty v angličtině.

After completing the course, students will be able to:

Explain the key principles of critical thinking and their role in academic, professional, and everyday communication.

Identify and analyze the structure of arguments (premises, conclusions, implicit and explicit arguments) and construct argument maps.

Distinguish between major types of arguments, particularly deductive, inductive, and analogical arguments.

Recognize common logical fallacies, rhetorical strategies, and persuasive techniques in different types of discourse.

Formulate well-structured arguments, counterarguments, and refutations.

Apply critical thinking principles when analyzing case studies from business, ethics, and social issues and present their arguments effectively in English.
