The primary objective of this academic writing course is to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge necessary for effectively crafting research papers and other academic texts. Through a comprehensive approach, students will be guided through the entire process of scholarly writing, from inception to completion. This includes critical skills such as topic selection, proficient research techniques, citation and referencing practices, organization of ideas, avoidance of plagiarism through ethical sourcing and attribution, adherence to appropriate formatting guidelines, and self-editing for clarity, coherence, and conciseness. This course is for students at CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) level B2 or higher, i.e. students who have a solid foundation in English language proficiency, enabling them to construct grammatically correct sentences with relative ease and possessing a varied lexicon for specific purposes that enables them to convey ideas with precision, and who wish to refine their skills in writing academic essays, projects, research articles, or theses.
