The course focuses on natural substances and introduces students to their most important representatives from the perspective of both the latest findings in medical applications and other practical uses. For each group of substances, it presents their occurrence in natural materials, biological properties and discusses in detail the synthetic procedures leading to their preparation and modifications. The course also emphasizes modern application methods for imaging the effects of natural substances. The possibilities of analyzing the biological targets of natural substances or drugs are discussed.
