Students have to know the nomenclature of heterocyclic systems and the basic reactivity of heterocyclic compounds listed in the syllabus, i.e. their reactivity with nucleophilic, electrophilic agents, metalation and cycloaddition reactions. They must also be able to suggest the synthesis of complicated heterocyclic systems using the chemical literature and databases. |
