First unit covers theoretical backgrounds of corrosion phenomena, in particular a) thermodynamic and kinetic aspects, potential, E vs pH diagrams, b) Wagner-Traud´s theory of mixed potentials, exchange current density and its relation to corrosion rate.

Second unit covers corrosion rate measurement, especially a) electrochemical methods of corrosion testing using DC and AC techniques, b) equipment for in-situ electrochemical measurements, c) methods of corrosion monitoring in power sector

Third unit covers materials service-life related phenomena in power cycles. Namely: a) interaction with water/steam, b) types and mechanisms of corrosion, included special cases as high temperature oxidation in gases, corrosion in supercritical water, material problems of GenIV c) protective and passive layers – mechanisms and kinetics of formation, properties, structure and composition, methods of analysis and characterisation, d) corrosion protection by power-cycle media modification, water-steam cycles additivation, corrosion inhibition in cooling cycles
