Annotation -
The course will introduce current trends and discoveries in biochemical and microbiological research with emphasis on their application and interdisciplinary use. Teaching will take the form of individual lectures led by experts from both academic and applied fields, followed by moderated discussion. Lecture topics will reflect the dynamic development of science and cover areas relevant to students' theses and future careers. The list of lectures will be presented during the first session.

Syllabus -

The lectures will be evenly distributed into four thematic blocks: Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Natural substances and pharmaceuticals. The topics of each lecture will be presented in the introductory class. Advances and news in these fields will be covered, such as innovative approaches to microbial risk reduction in medicine, food and the environment, evolution of microorganisms, modern therapies and new drug development, hormesis and modern biotechnological approaches (new genomic techniques, cultured meat).
