The Logistics course is designed as a basic insight into the issues of logistics. Its mission is to clarify basic terms and contexts. In particular, the connection of logistics to other fields such as production management, international trade, financial management, marketing, etc. By completing this course, students should gain a basic overview and the ability to navigate the given issue. They should also understand that logistics cannot be reduced to issues related to inventory management and that logistics does not only concern production plants and steaming factories, but also the service sector, as well as institutions such as hospitals, the army, schools, etc. The information obtained in this course should serv

Syllabus

1. Introductory lesson: timetable, organization of teaching, assessment, introduction to the concept of logistics, development of logistics.

2. Definition of logistics, basic terms, objectives, logistics chain, integrated logistics, scientific foundations of logistics.

3. Customer services. Value streams in the supply system.

4. Distribution. Logistics centers, Cross-Docking, ISO containers, pallets, slip sheets

5. Production management (logistics technologies: Kanban, JIT, JIS, QR, ECR, Hub & Spoke, influence of lean production, lean logistics).

6. Purchasing management.

7. Transport in logistics, multimodal and intermodal transport in Europe and the world, role of EU, TEN-T and CEF

8. Storage, inventories, inventory management. Role of inventories in logistics, inventory models, ABC and XYZ analysis

9. Packaging and handling. ISO containers, pallets, slip sheets, sequencing.

10. Information technology in logistics, EDI, automatic identification of goods, barcodes, RFID.

11. International logistics. Cooperation in logistics, 3PL, outsourcing, offshoring, reshoring.

12. Security of logistics chains. Legislation, INCOTERMS, international organizations and initiatives, screening of sea containers.

13. Reverse logistics, recycling.

14. Smart Cities, City logistics, new last mile, analysis of B2B and B2C segments, influence of online sales
