Annotation -
The content of the course is an overview of physiological processes in the body that have a causal or consequential connection with human nutrition. The first part summarizes the knowledge about digestion and resorption of individual nutrients, the function of the digestive tract, the excretion of waste products and energy and nutrient balance. The general part focuses on eating disorders, alternative diets and nutritional epidemiology.

2. Macro- and micronutrients I (proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, water, minerals, trace elements)

3. Macro- and micronutrients II (basics of intermediate metabolism)

4. Nutrient and energy balance; biological and energy value of diet; methods of determining energy demand (calculations, direct and indirect calorimetry)

5. Anatomy and function of the digestive tract I (anatomy and function of the GIT)

6. Anatomy and function of the digestive tract II (Glands connected to the digestive system, liver, pancreas; Detoxification mechanisms; Excretion of substances from the body, kidneys)

7. Intestinal microbiome and its contribution (not only) to digestion

8. Regulation of food intake

9. Eating disorders

10. Alternative ways of nutrition, reductarian diets, food groups, nutritional requirements, nutrition of specific population groups. Diet therapy

11. Selected hygienic aspects of nutrition. Food allergies
