Annotation -
This course is designed to complement the theoretical knowledge of general and hygienic-clinical microbiology with practical knowledge of clinical microbiology. The purpose of the seminar is to learn how to identify bacteria in biological materials, to distinguish true infectious agents from mere colonization and to be able to evaluate the severity of findings of pathogenic bacteria and to suggest possible therapy. Students will become familiar with the operation of a clinical microbiology laboratory and will get a comprehensive picture of microbiological diagnosis.

Aim of the course -

Students will learn:

  • the processes involved in the clinical microbiology laboratory
  • to identify selected major representatives of human pathogenic microorganisms by diagnostic methods
  • to use the acquired knowledge for practical work as a professional in the clinical microbiology laboratory
