The subject "Technical Documentation of Garments" deals with various types of technologies used in the fabrication of lined and unlined garments with a particular focus on the professional terminology. It further describes the methods of elaboration of the individual components and parts as well as the vast possibilities of garment decoration. A part of the subject is also dedicated to familiarisation with the professional methods of development of technical drawings and technical descriptions that represent an essential documentation material used in the restorer´s work. The subject also focuses on the theoretical and practical knowledge of a broad range of traditional clothing materials. The so gained findings will be used by the students during a practical reconstruction of a historical costume.
Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

• prepare technical clothing documentation consisting of a technical drawing and a description of the garment

• maintain adequate formal standards of elaboration in compliance with the professional terminology

• identify the methods of technological elaboration of garments and their individual parts and apply them practically to the restoration of a historical costume

• identify the traditional types of woven fabrics according to their key identification features

• apply the so gained theoretical findings to a practical assignment
