1. Characterization of microorganism environment, microbial profile of environment, interactions between microorganisms, microorganisms and plants. 2. General principles of biodegradation processes. 3. The effect of environment on biodegradation (e.g. redox potential and pH environment). 4. Bioavailability and bioaccessibility of pollutants. 5. Petroleum products and petroleum-degrading microorganisms (principles and limits of microbial degradation, detection of microbial degradation). 6. Chlorinated hydrocarbons and microorganisms degrading chlorinated hydrocarbons (principles and limits of microbial degradation, detection of microbial degradation). 7. Persistent organic pollutants and microorganisms degrading persistent organic pollutants (principles and limits of microbial degradation, detection of microbial degradation). 8. Inorganic pollutants, radionuclides, heavy metals. 9. Landfill, microorganisms in landfill sites and microbiological processes during waste decomposition. 10. Composting, microorganisms in compost and microbiological processes during composting. 11. Laboratory exercises – Preparation of sterile aids, dilution solutions, cultivation and diagnostic media. 12. Laboratory exercises – Determination of total degraders. 13. Laboratory exercises – Determination of degradation process. 14. Laboratory exercises – Identification of total degraders by Biolog system. |
