The subject is focused on exercising transformations in organic synthesis which is followed by introduction of novel approaches used for selective introduction and transformation of functional groups including application of protecting groups.

Students will be able to:

apply methods for introduction of organic functional groups

transform and remove various functionalities in organic molecules

construct various carbon chains of complex organic molecules

selectively protect functional groups in multi-functional compounds

design syntheses of organic compounds on intermediate level

5. Alkylation a acylation reactions - introduction. Alkylations and acylation in aromatic compounds, selectivity.

It is compulsory to pass two seminar tests with the average result at least 50%,written examination test with the result at least 50%, and finally to pass successfuly the oral examination.
