The aim of the lectures is to bring basic information in the chemistry of pharmaceuticals which should help the alumni to start their professional carrier in the pharmaceutical industry (R&D, manufacturing) and in the distribution of drugs. The introductory lectures cover general pharmaceutical chemistry: basic terms and definitions, principles of mutual drug and organism interactions, drug design methods, and good manufacturing practice. The main part of the lectures is devoted to systematic pharmaceutical chemistry giving a brief survey structures and syntheses of the most frequently used drugs.
Obligatory pre-requisites: Organic Chemistry I and II.
Recommended pre-requisites: Biochemistry I.

Vitamins a hormones.
