This course offers a comprehensive foundation for understanding atmospheric pollution, including its types, effects, control methods, principles, and applications.
The coursework begins with an introduction to the basic chemistry of the atmosphere and the reactions that occur within it. It then explores how the atmosphere interacts with solar radiation, detailing its structure, composition, and meteorological influences. Students will delve into the major issues of atmospheric pollution: urban and industrial emissions, indoor air pollution, acid deposition, climate change, global warming, and stratospheric ozone depletion.
Each topic covers the origins and characteristics of these pollutants, their environmental and health impacts, control strategies, and the international regulatory efforts aimed at mitigating these issues. The course includes practical examples, problems, and approximately 500 PowerPoint slides across 14 lectures.
Weekly practical exercises, individual presentations, and two field trip reports provide hands-on experience, making this course ideal for undergraduate and graduate students in earth science, atmospheric science, meteorology, environmental science, and environmental engineering and management. Additionally, it serves as a valuable resource for researchers, lecturers, and instructors interested in atmospheric pollution. Poslední úprava: Duong Van Minh (11.09.2024)
