Annotation -
The course deals with the separation of ionic components of water with chemical and physico-chemical methods. It focuses on acquiring knowledge of water treatment in terms of technology, economics and environmental impact. The main focus of the course is on ion exchange, sorption and membrane processes. Distillation, precipitation, clarification and electrochemical processes are also explained.

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

Characterize the individual procedures of desalination methods.

Propose the technology of treatment of the given type of water (sea, brackish or surface) for the preparation of drinking water or demineralized water utilizing ion exchange, sorption and membrane technologies. Also, they will be able to use separation and desalination processes to treat the process water and selectively remove unvanted ions and organic substances from water.
