The subject focuses on the importance of transition metals for the composition and properties of molecules. It gives an overview of the approaches used to describe coordinating compounds, it deals with the properties of the metal and the ligand that are critical to the formation of complexes and what determines their properties (reactivity, interaction with IR and UV-Vis radiation, magnetic behavior, biological activity).

Each week a homework is given to the topic being discussed. In order to become eligible for classification each student has to work it out at least 7 times. The final exam is oral. Poslední úprava: Hoskovcová Irena (19.02.2018)

Students will be able: to use basic terms of coordination chemistry to differentiate viewpionts of CFT, LFT and MO theories, to know their benefits and usability limits to explain the typical properties of coordinating compounds with help of a suitable model
They will be able to use the concepts necessary for the study of primary literature and monographs. Poslední úprava: Hoskovcová Irena (21.02.2018)
